Memorial Day Weekend

It's known as the unofficial start to the summer, but for me its 3.5 days of workless bliss, shenanigans with the Usual Suspects, and sleep. This Memorial Day weekend, I hooked myself up (got the fresh lob and mani-pedi), did some shopping (check out Score of the Week), headed out to BK for Hip Hop Karaoke, and spent quality time with my mom.

It was the perfect weekend for pure casual wear. This weekend it was all about tees and jeans for me. For my mall run, I wore my Floral Moto and Boyfriend jeans from Lane Bryant. My tee is from Loft and I love it because it has a necklace attached, which amped up my look without me doing much. On my feet are the best oxfords money can buy from Cole Haan (rose gold...two snaps), and my purse is the Zip Zip Satchel from Dooney & Bourke.

While listening to those tear down the mic this weekend at Brooklyn Bowl, I wore my Hangry tee from Asos Curve. For all the guys out there, this shirt is a fair warning. If you do not feed me in reasonable amount of time, you might get the wrath of Hangriness...(I'm being honest). The jeans are Lane Bryant's cropped jeans (but on me they are more of an ankle which is perfect), and my Jessica Simpson white denim jacket. On my feet were my Aloha Nike Air Huarache's and my Rebecca Minkoff quilted shoulder bag (best crossbody I ever bought). Sound off in the comments and let me know if you are a tee & jean kind of girl like me. Later lovahs!

TROPICAL FANTASY

I remember the closest thing to a tropical print for me was watching Tom Selleck on Magnum PI, fast forward twenty something years and now tropical prints are so effortlessly cool. Tropical prints make me want to go on vacation. I just imagine beautiful skies while strolling aimlessly and stopping for a frozen delicious cocktail...

Alas, there are no vacation plans on my schedule (I need to work on that asap), but in the meanwhile I can wear my fun and easy Tropical Print skirt from Forever 21+. It is made of a stretchy scuba like material and with it being humid, I was still comfortable. There is a matching Bardot-esque crop top, and I originally wanted to pair them both together, but the top was not flattering on me. Oh well, I have other options for tops, so I went my Simply Be crop top. This is one of the first crop tops I bought . It's loose and easy going which goes well with the skirt. I wore my oldie but goodie nude wedges from Dolce Vita, and for my bag, I went with a baby blue Zip Satchel from Dooney & Bourke. My sunnies are from Ray-Ban (I first wore these in Denim Addict). I have a lot more tropical prints in my closet, so this is just the first in a series of how I wear them. For those that are a bit shy about the print, I feel this skirt is good starter because it is only white & green, for those that are bolder you can pull out some neon pumps and rock a bold bright lip to command all of the attention or go for a more colorful print like this maxi. If the skirt is still too much for your taste, I suggest some cute flats such as the Molly & the Mara from Sole Society.
