Jaye & The Holograms

As a 80's baby, Saturday Morning Cartoons was a way of life. I watched everything from GI Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, He-Man, She-Ra, the list goes on. One could say that I was a TV junkie, but hey there were a lot of good shows back then. One of my all time favorites was Jem & the Holograms. I loved watched Jerrica and the crew running a music company and selling out shows. This look is the perfect combination of Jen & Jerrica, fun, professional, and pink.

This season the pleated skirt (irregardless of the length) has become the must have skirt. I was on the hunt for a silver metallic skirt, but could not find one in plus. Gunmetal- yes, but silver, not at all. Then I was browsing the new arrivals from Fullbeauty, and found it- yes a silver metallic skirt!!! I ordered it with the quickness and checked the skirt off my list. When it arrived in the mail, I noticed it was much more than a silver skirt. It was holographic. Yup, the perfect silver metallic skirt was a holographic silver skirt. Immediately Jem came to mind, and I was like you know what, this is the best of both worlds. It's cool enough for Jerrica to wear during the day and funky enough for Jem to wear on stage. One could not be happier with this Jessica London skirt.

My turtlenecks are still in heavy rotation, and this one from Violeta c/o Mango is a great staple to have. I wish their clothing came higher than a 20, but they do make well made staples that you can wear forever. The skirt has blue & pink undertones so I decided to wear my pink heels and moto jacket. I ended out the look with another hologram piece, my oldie but goodie purse.

How I Holiday

I had the pleasure of working on my first lookbook with Pop Up Plus! If you have not heard of them, they are a NYC based online boutique featuring the hottest items for us plus size gals. Myself, alongside Anita of Foreign Curves and Kala from Model May I wore some of the newest arrivals for their latest campaign #HowIHoliday.

For our first look we all wore the Gigi Halter dress. This dress fits amazing and the colors look amazing against all skin tones. Gigi is made from a super stretchy velvet material, so it's quite comfortable. With velvet being the "It" material of the season, this dress is a must have for any of your Holiday parties.

For my second look, I went with Glam To the Bone metallic maxi skirt. Metallic skirts have been big this season. They are so versatile. Since metallics pair well with everything, I can dress it up with a bodysuit (like I did for the lookbook), or dress it down with a sweatshirt and sneakers. Kala is wearing the Oh Baby Sheer Velvet Dress- like isn't she smoking hot!!! Anita is slaying in a black and gold sequin dress. All she needs is a clutch and she is ready for a night out on the town!!

For my final look, I went with something out of comfort zone. Now I love me a good jumpsuit, but I have never worn a fitted jumpsuit before. Since my train of thought these days is "Hey, you never know" I went ahead and tried it on and it looked amazing!! The Studded Fantasy Jumpsuit is definitely a show stopper. It has adequate stretch, so it's definitely an item you can move around it and show off all those wonderful curves.

Kala is wearing a printed cutout jumpsuit and I loved how she styled it with a blue strappy sandal to play off the the colors in the print. Anita is wearing Careless Whisper Dress and what I love about the dress is that even though its modest in the front, the back has a low scoop back and a split. You can definitely make a killer exit in the dress...lol.

In addition to the shoot, we also shared what we love about the holidays. Check it out below!!

I had so much fun working with the Pop Up Team and it definitely shows in our pictures. I want to thank the team for including me in this amazing project. If you are looking for fun, and sexy items at a great price point (All the looks that we wore for the lookbook were under $60!!!) then definitely head to Pop Up Plus. Trust me the site has great pieces that would work for any wardrobe. So lovers, let me know "How You Holiday" in the comments below!!

Leather Lover

Leather, fur- these are some of my favorite things. Though faux leather and fur have come a long way, when I am able to find real leather pieces in my size, I am extremely happy. One of the latest brands I have been raving about- Ellos makes plus size leather items. Cue the Snoopy Happy Dance! I love having options, and no matter what size you wear, options to wear great items should always be accessible. Fullbeauty is definitely on my list of resources when I am looking for great items.

Currently the brand has a leather top and pants. Though the leather pants were calling my name, I decided to go with the leather top. I went with the top for several reasons. First, I have been adding more versatile tops into my wardrobe. With all of the pants and jeans I have been in love with and bought over the past several months, I needed a great top that can stand out, but play nice with others. A black leather top does that hands down. With leather items, I always suggest sizing up. I went with a size 20, so that I had enough room in the arms and across my chest. What I love about this- besides being leather, is that the length of this top is perfect. It's hits perfectly at my hip, so you can wear it like I did with a pair of jeans, or tuck it into your favorite skirt. The options are endless. Second reason to go with a leather top- warmth. It's getting cold in NYC, and items that make  you look good but can keep you warm are a must have.

While we are on the topic of staying warm, I wanted to share this great coat. If you follow me on Snapchat (@styleoversize) I tried on this coat at the Ellos Fall Preview, and immediately fell in love. Coats in the winter time are how I make a statement. It's a great way to incorporate color, or a print. I love a good leopard print, and this coat would be a great addition to any woman's closet. If you all about a good coat, I suggest this one. If leopard is not your speed, the coat does come in black. There is also a belted version that comes in burgundy that is cute as well. There are plethora of coats out there for us. If you want color, rock color, if you want black, rock black. There are more options than ever that having you looking great without breaking the bank. Trust me there are out there, and once you find that one coat that makes you feel fancy, you will never want to take it off.

Are you all about leather, or are you a fur lady? Perhaps sequins? Let me know in the comments. Until next time lovers! Muah!

Suited Up

I definitely would say I am a tee shirt and jeans kind of gal. Every now and again there is an item that breaks me out of going to my tried and true. As you all know, Eloquii this season has been killing it. Their Fall/Holiday collections has something for everybody. One of the biggest trends from the runway was the floral suit and Eloquii gave us plus size gals, not one but two versions this season that are simply amazing.

The Floral Crepe Blazer & Kady pant are the dynamic duo of suits. It's bold color makes this fun to wear. As soon as a put it on my mood was lifted. It fits well and since they are separates I can get so much wear out of both pieces. Blazer's are a big part of my wardrobe; they instantly make a look more polished. This floral one is super cute and makes a statement. I am wearing the blazer in a 20. With blazers for me it's all about the fit in my arms and across the chest. This blazer fits great, and I have room to layer. The Kady is my go to pant. I own the pant in several colors and prints, and I always receive compliments any time I wear them. I wear a 16 in Kady, and even though I have the pants in different fabrications, the sizing is still consistent.

I have been wearing loafers since I was a little girl, and when I saw these from Asos, I just had to have them. The punchy color worked perfectly with my suit, and above all else, they are comfortable to wear. Heeled loafers are another big trend this season, and anything with a block heel is just easier on your feet. Tis the season for cold weather so I wore my favorite turtleneck sweater from the Gap. There is nothing cute about being sick, so I like to keep my neck covered up in the winter time. Cute and covered is the name of the game in the winter.

Wearing a suit was something I always shied away from. Most plus size suits were drab and boring, so it was never something I wanted to invest in. Having options that are not only well fitting, but fit into my style makes me willing to wear different things, and I must say I love it. What do you think?
