Kicking It

I have always been a sneaker girl. There was a period of time where I was wearing my heels and living that girly girl life, but I am back to my roots. Don’t get me wrong, a good pair of heels can change your life, but a good pair of sneakers will soothe your soul. Nike has been releasing a lot of retros with fun new colorways, and I have been loving them. One of my favorite sneakers of all time is the Jordan 1. It’s a simple sneaker, but its simplicity gives it versatility that you can wear it with your favorite dresses, jeans, or sweatsuits with ease. These days, dressing is what you make of it. Use it to express your personality. The Jordan 1’s I am wearing are the Mid Lightbulbs. Anything colorful that I can wear with a bunch of items is definitely added to the closet. There are two new colorways dropping next week that are on my list, and fingers crossed they will be mine!!

Eloquii Faux Leather

If I see a cute faux leather piece, I am going to buy it. I must. With the temps warming up I knew I could get good use out of these faux leather tie shorts (they were bought right before the Rona shut down outside). On a breezy day, I could wear these with a hoodie and sneakers, or dress it up with a strappy sandal and a cute top. I always get a 18 in my shorts to ensure that I have room in the thigh. When you carry weight in your thighs and butt making sure you have enough room in shorts is key. Since I was going for an edgy fun wearable look, I paired the shorts with another faux leather item- a crop tank also from Eloquii. My top is an 18/20. I wanted it to fit without being overly tight. When the temps are rising the last thing you want is to have on a faux leather crop top that is tight. It will stick to your body and will be a pain to get off. Underneath the crop top I wore one of my favorite bras from Elomi to add a cage like effect.

I love mixing masculine with feminine so with this look pairing a checkered blazer and the sneakers with the faux leather pieces was a win-win. The Veronica Beard Houndstooth Blazer plays off the colors in the sneakers and it all ties together with the black base of the top & shorts. If you have not heard about Veronica Beard, she makes these amazing blazers. She also makes other clothing items, but her blazers are her signature. The price tag is steep ($600+), but I found this one on sale for $250. Lately, I have been looking for pieces to add to my wardrobe that are timeless and versatile. There are times where I am willing to spend to a little more on an item because I know I will have it for years to come. This was one of those purchases. I completely understand that not everyone wants or can spend that much one piece, so I found a dupe on sale less than $50.

With the changes in what is necessary to carry in these times, I rotate between my backpack and my new duffle from Dagne Dover. Don’t get me wrong, a mini bag is great, but when you need to carry a tablet, wallet, sanitizer, mask, chargers, camera, mini makeup kit, you need something that carry a lot without a lot of bulk. This seasons colors are soo good, that when I had the chance to snag this lime medium duffle 25% off I hopped on it immediately. Dagne Dover has become a favorite of mines when I started to travel. My first purchase was the large duffle bag in a dusty pink camo, which is great for a weekend trip or as my carry on for when I am flying. The pockets alone allow you to carry so much within one bag with ease. The medium is great to use as my day to day bag, I rotate between this one and my medium Dakota backpack from them.

I really loved how my outfit turned out. It’s effortless, fun and a bit sexy. With all that is going on, it was nice to throw on an outfit and feel good. Not every day is going to be a good one, but enjoy the good ones when they happen. Later lovahs!!!

Serving Looks

The TCF Style Expo was last week, and I must say it was awesome. It was my first year attending- last year I had serious FOMO so I made sure I was better at all my trip planning for this year. I must say, Marie Denee knows how to throw an expo. With two days full of events I knew I had to make sure I was bringing it, but at the same time keeping it cool and cute. There is nothing worse than being in the South in the summer sweltering in your clothes. So here it is lovers, my looks for Day 1 of the Expo.

DAYTIME

I wanted to wear something different so I wore this great maxi dress from indie brand Obioma. This Maryland based company mixes African Print with modern designs. Their prints are amazing. I first met the brand at Full Figured Fashion Week, and I fell in love with this dress right here.

This strapless maxi was the perfect dress to wear to the expo. The print is a standout, and you can never go wrong with a maxi dress. I am wearing a 2x in the dress which allowed for me to move around freely. If you are not one to go sans sleeves, no worries- the print comes in a cool skirt or jacket. If you love the strapless maxi style, this also comes in two other fun prints. Your girl was super lucky because Obioma was at the expo, so I was able to get another fun dress to wear!

Charming Charlie Earrings

I kept my accessories simple with my trusty watch and these great earrings from Charming Charlie. These unfortunately are sold out online, but check your local store. I found these when I was walking around the store and fell in love. Even though these are not available, these shorter version ones look amazing as well. Since I was doing a lot of walking, wearing heels was not an option. I wore the Greta slide from Ann Taylor in Azul. If you are looking for a slide, definitely check this one out. I bought these for $35! They are soo comfy, I am seriously thinking about getting another color.

NIGHTTIME

For the mixer, I wanted to go for a sultry nighttime look. One night browsing good ole Asos, I stumbled across this great dress. The ruffle detail had me swooning, but the price had me adding it to cart immediately. The Truly You Ruffle Dress was on sale for $41!!! Yes, you heard me, a great dress for a night out for a great price. One of my boo's called me a sexy senorita...lol. I went with a size 18, and it was a perfect fit. I must say cobalt blue looks great on me. The bold color against the melanin is a win win. I paired the look with this great Mermaid Clutch from Courtney Noelle, and my favorite Vince Camuto sandals.

I was excited to attend the expo, but I was not prepared for the awesomeness of Day 1. It was great meeting new bloggers, catching up with the boo's, and just learning from all the great speakers during the panels. Stay tuned because my recap of the expo is coming soon. In the meantime tell me what do you think of my looks!
