WFH

Decided to share how I have been adjusting to working from home. Prior to COVID 19, I would work from home on Friday’s. It was a nice and much needed break from the office and more importantly my commute (90 minute commutes can take a toll on your body & spirit), so I was not new to working from home, but going from 1 day to 5 is different. Even though now I have less distractions, the lack of people can take a toll. Human beings are social creatures, so the distancing from one another can be rough for some. I’m an only child, so I am used to spending a good amount of time alone, so what works for me is carving out time to work on my to do list, and leaving some time to help others on my team that are new to the area. I think I have found a good balance without feeling overwhelmed.

In the beginning of this, I literally was just in pj’s staying in my bed. I had to stop doing that because it was not working for me. Don’t get me wrong, my pj’s are comfy, but to go from waking up at 6am and getting dressed to just wearing pj’s didn’t motivate me. I was just going through the motions. Now I am getting up around the same time everyday, getting dressed and tackling a to do list of no more than 4 items for that day. It keeps me accountable, but gives me the grace to take some much needed breaks. Some days I forgo breaks, but if I go a day where I didn’t take one, I make sure to get up from my desk 2-3 times the next day to rest my eyes and get some much needed stretches in. Don’t let you being at home fool you, breaks and days off are still needed!!!! In addition to breaks, having something simple as a second monitor and a back support cushion have helped as well. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed especially when you have 5 windows open in addition to your email account and everything just feels like its on top of one another. For me having the second screen just helps me tackle tasks that require me to shift back and forth in less time.

To get back to a sense of myself, I needed to get dressed, now this does not mean I am wearing dresses in the house, but finding items that are comfy and multipurpose. I work better when I’m comfortable, when I’m in pjs all I want to do is sleep. While on Dia & Co’s site, I was checking out all their athletic wear, cause if there is one thing yall know about me, is that I love athleisure. It gives you the flexibility in a myriad of ways. Let’s break it down

  1. Most athleisure items are made with spandex and soft fabrics- which means breathability and stretchy comfort.

  2. You can easily dress up your look with cute accessories for those Zoom meetings. My go to accessory is a headband/headwrap.

  3. When you are taking that much needed break, you can go for a walk or do a quick workout online, and then come back and continue working.

When it comes to my athleisure wear, I look for colorful pieces. Color brightens up my mood, and we all need a boost these days, so when I saw this bright coral lightning top I just had to have it. I love that its brighter like on the neon reddish side. I just paired it with the matching leggings and I am ready to do some deep meditation, writing these blog posts, purging, and Zoom meetings.

I will not be going back to the office until later on this year, so I am always on the look out for items that can work inside & outside of the home. Dia definitely has what you need to tackle WFH, or just chilling at home. Their new arrivals are soo cute, better head to their site before they are all gone.
