3 Years and Counting

It's that time of the year! It's my 3, yes 3 year bloggerversary! The time is going, I must say, and I am proud of the blogger that I am becoming. When I started the blog, it was an outlet for me to share my passion with the world. I was working (still am), and the one way that I always felt for me as a way to express myself was through my clothes. It was the encouragement of friends to start the blog because they saw something in me that should be shared. When my best friend would tell me you need to start this blog, I would laugh because I felt there were already amazing bloggers already doing it. I didn't feel like my style was soo different that it would stand out. I was soo wrong. My style is a reflection of me, and no one can be me, but me. Yes anyone can wear a dress and some cute shoes, but no one will wear it like me.

Three years is definitely something to break out the confetti. Actually the confetti gun was The Real Sample Size's idea. Blogging has really brought some dope women into my life. It's one thing to talk clothes, it's another when you have a team in your corner that gives you cool ideas to get the creative juices flowing. I will say that I am grateful for all that is in my life. Whether its helping me take pictures, giving me outfit critiques, places to go (and eat) or sharing dope walls that I can shoot at, I will never take them for granted.

Eloquii Sequin Dress

For my bloggerversary, I decided to get away from NYC for a bit and head to Houston to visit The Real Sample Size. They have an amazing array of cute walls to shoot at, so I thought hey I can hang with my girl, shoot, and try the hot spots. When I say I had the best sweet tea in my life- lovers let me tell you. I am a sugar junkie. I was the kid that added way too much sugar to the Kool Aid (I kid you not). So when I tried the Sweet Tea at the Breakfast Klub I was soo in love. Don't get me wrong, the food was amazing, but that tea tho....I am still thinking about it and it's been over a week. Maybe RSS will send me some...lol.

What's a celebration without a little sparkle. When I saw the Sequin Shift Dress, I knew I wanted to wear it for my bloggerversary. It was totally a Jami Jaye dress. I am a sucker for all things sequin, but the ease of the dress is what really sold me. We all know when it comes to dressing, I still want easy, fun, and comfortable, and this is the epitome of what I am looking for. The inner lining is made of a soft tee like material. Most sequin dresses have polyester or stiff like linings so it's cool that this feels like your favorite tee. Even though this is a sequin dress, I would totally wear this with a blouse underneath to make it a daytime look, or with a denim jacket and Adidas Superstars to treat it as a casual dress. To be honest, I do not think there is any wrong way to wear this dress.

I have been looking for the right outfit to break out my sock booties, and this dress was it. Sock booties are so on trend this season, and I found mines at my favorite place Tar-Jay. The Cady comes in three colors and for less than $40 you can buy all three and not feel bad at all. The pink is a nice and bright, the red is classic, and having a white boot is 'it' color of the season. The height is perfect at three inches, and they are super comfortable. Lately, I have been all about that sneaker life, so wearing a pair of heels that were really comfortable made me happy.

I want to thank everyone that has liked, read, shared a post. Without all of you on Instagram, and Facebook I would not be here. To all the bloggers that have share my photo's, to the websites that have featured me, you are appreciated. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AND LET'S GO YEAR 3!!!!!

Bombers Away

Ok, your girl is back from her week off to attend all the events from NYFW. First thing that was on my list was Curvy Con. For Day 1, I wanted to keep it casually cute. So you know what that means- rocking sporty looking pieces.

Gwynnie Bee

The first day was all about the Dia & Co fashion show. With the weather being quintessentially fall, I went with this great bomber that I borrowed from Gwynnie Bee. The Rachel Rachel Roy maxi bomber is simply amazing. I love a good bomber, but this one takes it up a notch, not only because of the print and varsity inspired accents, but with it being a maxi, it stands apart from other's out there. I'm rocking out in a 2X and it fits like a glove. If you have yet to try Gwynnie Bee you need to start now. You can try this very jacket for free by using this code.

With the print of the jacket I thought it would be cool to pair it with this sporty tee shirt dress from Eloquii. The prints play well together since they are the same color base. The easiest way to mix prints is to go with a similar color palette. Black and white is always a great color combo that you can easily pair different prints with. The floral aesthetic of the bomber plays well with the stripes in the dress. A good tee shirt dress makes dressing easy. Just throw it on, and boom you are chic and you are ready to walk out of the door. I went with the 18 so that it wouldn't be too tight. It's made from a nice medium weight, stretchy material, so this is great to wear anytime.

For accessories, I gave these earrings from Aldo a go. I have been loving their accessories and these are a great pair to have. They come in five colors, and for $15 you can stock up and not feel the least bit guilty. Get ready for tons of compliments, because these earrings are a conversation starter. I ended my look with these great booties from Eloquii. You take the classic bootie and add fun pearl accents, and you have the Harper. She is slightly wider than you average shoe which is great for these feet. I have a wide foot, so any time I can find a great shoe with adequate support and width they must be shared.

What do you think of my Day 1 look? Do you love the sporty vibes or is it the print mixing that you enjoy? Let me know in the comments, but stay tuned because I have pictures from Dia & Co Fashion Show. Muah lovers.

Time to Party!!!

Last Friday was Day 1 of Curvy Con. If you have not heard about it, blogger besties GarnerStyle and Plus Size Princess came up with a convention that is about all things plus. This was year two, and it was extended out to two days. Day 1 was all about wellness and fitness, followed by some shopping and ended with a party at the Gwynnie Bee office in Long Island City. I love a good party, so I was super excited to attend. I have never been to their office, so this was a great chance to check them out.

For such a great occasion I went with this great one shoulderish scuba dress from Eloquii. The colorblocking drew me first to it, but I love the cut-out shoulder detail. With a dress like this, all you need is a great shoe, and you are good to go. When going to events, I don't expect a lot of seating to be readily available, so I wanted to wear a shoe that looked great, but was super comfortable. I saw these great platform sandals while browsing Macy's online. My feet are a little on the wide side, and when it comes to sandals, I am always mindful of my pinky toe. I hate wearing shoes that squeeze my toe. No matter how good the shoe looks, once your pinky toe is in pain you are taking them off. These are wide enough that I just stand, dance, and walk the Gwynnie Bee catwalk, like I did in this photo. I wish these came in a bright color like a nice neon pink or a slushy blue for the summer, but you can never go wrong with classic black. I Definite must have. I wore these for over 6 hours straight and I was completely fine. The party was a hit! We were even surprised with a fashion show featuring their new collection designed by Rachel Antonoff. Her prints were super cute and perfect for summer. I'm eyeing the dresses. Below are some pics that I took of the gals. Day 1 of Curvy Con was a hit, and stay tuned for my Day 2 post.
