Flower Power

Florals were definitely something I would say I had no interest in. Growing up florals were very blah and frumpy. I definitely did not see my tom-boy self wearing them. Twenty years later, my closet is full of them.

Over the years florals have definitely evolved from boring and blah, to fun and flirty. The use of bold color, cool silhouettes, or the combination of the two have really made florals completely wearable no matter what size you wear. It's funny to think that florals was once a no no since big prints were not "flattering" especially on a bigger figure. My how they were proven wrong.

I am a big fan of high waisted wide leg pants. I feel like they are the perfect pant for the summer. It's definitely a piece that you can easily dress up or down. Depending on my mood, I will wear them with a tee and sneakers for a casual look, with a pair of heels and an off the shoulder top for a night out, or with a button up and a good sandal. These Eloquii pants are not only super cute, but they are warm weather friendly. Even though I am all about pants, you never want to wear a pair that make you hotter than you already are. I went with a size 18 in these just to make sure they fit without being too tight on the thigh.

With florals I like to mix it up. Literally. I love to mix florals with stripes. There is barely a stripe/floral combo that I have not liked. When I bought these pants I was wondering what top would really make the pants pop. The pant is soo cute, that I felt that it needed another showstopper that would not detract from the print, but bring it all together. I bought this one shoulder striped top last year and I was looking for the right piece to pair it with. These pants were it. The stripes bring out the blues in the pants, and make the whole look fun and fresh.

If you have not gone to Target these season, you are totally missing out. Besides the great items from Who What Wear, their brand A New Day has some bangers as well. In addition to the clothes, they have a great assortment of slides and shoes. The Stacia knotted sandal comes in this great bold yellow shade (to me it looks golden), and these come in wide width. They are also available in navy & green, so for $23 you can buy all three and not feel the slightest bit guilty about it. They are comfortable, cute and extremely versatile- get them asap!!!

My statement earring obsession is still going strong, and when I saw these cute wooden hoops on sale I just had to have them. Can't go wrong with a fun earring for less than $15.

The finishing touch for this look was the right handbag, and I knew that my Ark bag from Cult Gaia totally work with my look. With it being a neutral it does not compete with my look. When I mix prints, I want the focus to be on my clothes, not my handbag,

Are you all about Flower Power? Let me know.

Leather Lover

I am a big fan of leather. Option in plus were limited to just a jacket here and there, but the times have definitely changed. Besides great jackets, there are pants, tops, and skirts in real or faux leather that can make you look like a total sexy badass.

For the second day of Curvy Con, I wanted to wear something sexy, but still be comfortable. Conventions call for tons of walking and talking, so I wanted to wear something that was easy to move in and can be a conversation starter. Cue this faux leather top from Eloquii. One shoulder tops have been HUGE this year, and as we shift gears into Fall, it completely make sense to start seeing them in other materials such as leather and suede. I am wearing a size 18, and the fit was spot on. The back panel is made of ponte, so you won't have to worry about overheating while slaying.

When comfort comes to mind, I think about my pj's. There is no greater feeling than slipping on my favorite pj's after a long day. Now that pj's have been taken out of the bedroom and and now are a part of streetstyle you can enjoy the comfort of pj's while making the street's your runway. When I saw these pants in my daily email's from Lane Bryant, I just had to make them mine. The September capsule collaboration with Glamour's Magazine Lauren Chan is an ode to to the pijama trend. Tons of sliky based goodness in rich tones of burgandy and black. These wide leg pants were the standout in the collection in my opinion. Wide leg pants can be quite tricky when you are a member of team thick thighs, but my solution- I just size up. I want the pants to truly look flowy and oversized, so a size 18 accomplished my goal. The pants come with a tie belt so you can define your waist. Trust me when I say, the amount of compliments I received made this blogger smile from ear to ear (Especially from the beautiful Nia Jaxx from WWE).

As a native NY, wearing the right shoe makes the difference between enjoying the day out, or rushing to next available seat in order to relieve tired feet. These days, I limit my time in heels, but even though I may not be sky high, I'm not sacrificing style for comfort. Zara has been a great resource for the cutest accessories and shoes, and in some cases clothes (I need them to expand more of their assortment to XXL), but their shoes are still a favorite. Check these out because for $40 they are going to go quick.

I spent Day 2 of Curvy Con listening in to great panels such as Dear Retailer, and listening to Lane Bryan't new designer talk about taking classic staples and amping them up for us plus size women. I also got a chance to check out some new lingerie from UK brand Curvy Kate. They had such sexy bras that go up to a K cup. Trust me when you are busty, trying to find a great bra that is still supportive is important. I checked out new fall arrivals from Macy's, Simply Be, Modcloth, and newcomer Premme. I'm pumped for Fall, and so ready for what's in store. What do you think of my Day 2 look?
