Rainbow Brite

This 80's baby was all about Rainbow Brite as a child. She lived her life in complete technicolor. Now as a New Yorker, my life is all consumed by a palette of black, but lately my quest for color has me living for sunny days and bright palettes.

With me trying not to fall into my safety net of black, I have been shopping my own closet to find new ways to wear items that I have had in my closet. One of my favorite items is the Crazy Stripe Sweater from the Gap. This sweater has been a mainstay of my wardrobe for at least 4 years and it continues to go strong. I make sure I use a sweater stone to remove any piles and I put my sweaters away each season using space saver bags. Each holiday season they release a new Crazy Stripe, and this past season's version is on sale.

There is something about a sweater and skirt combo that is just effortlessly chic. With NYC not getting the memo it is April and it's Spring, the weather is still chilly so a sweater with a skirt is a great way to combat the chill that is still in the air. Also, the sweater/midi or maxi skirt combo is a great way to transition into the next season. Also the great thing about this combo is that you can dress it up with pumps, or go casual with a great pair of white sneakers. My go to white sneaker these days is the classic Stan Smith.

I found this bold hue skirt on Fullbeauty's website from their offering of Violeta items. I love that it is a pull on skirt which makes life easy. Sometimes I just do not want to fuss with a skirt with zippers. There are definitely some sizes available on their site, so don't wait cause it is on sale for $32. I have also linked some other boldly hued skirts is this red one is not your cup of tea.

Moto jackets are my achilles heel. I live for a good moto. Moto jackets are just the easiest way to add some cool girl vibes to any look. Don't be surprised this Spring when you see me in a new color one everyday...lol. This red stunner is also from Fullbeauty from Ulla Popken. This suede version is sold out, but they do have a faux leather one available. I also linked some other cute red moto's that I feel you need in your life.

Only thing left is to add your favorite red lippie, some accessories and you are ready to live your best Rainbow Brite life. Were you a fan or her vibe growing up? Do you live for color or do you stick to neutrals? Please share in the comments! Muah!!

Ruffled Up

My quest of trying new things has been a lot of fun. It all started with trying some ruffle hemmed pants (If you haven't checked out that post, click here), but now I am woman obsessed with ruffles. Now I have added a ruffle skirt to the mix, and this is only the beginning.

The ruffle flounce skirt from Eloquii is a great piece to add to your closet. It's made of a lightweight twill material, so even though it was 90+ degree's I was not hot at all. Another bonus, it has pockets. Anything with pockets makes my life all the better. I am wearing a 16, and it has stretch so you can order your size and you will have room.

Since I was at the Fit For Me event during Full Figured Fashion Week, I wanted to make sure I kept it cute and comfortable. It was hot in NYC, so it's all about items that are hot, but can still can keep me cool. I paired my skirt with the super cute and trendy tassel tee. I love a great tee, and this one gives added interest without any need for accessories.

To bring my look together, I wore my Steve Madden Inca block heel sandals. These are a favorite of mine for so many reasons. First, they are leopard, and we all know leopard goes with everything. Second, the heel is great for daily wear. Third, the embroidery. From the front, it's just your simple leopard sandal, but when you see them from the back, you get to see all the great flower detail. Every time I wear these shoes, I receive tons of compliments. Currently, they are on sale, so definitely check them out. All that was left was my favorite red lippie from Too Faced called Lady Balls. This liquid matte is phenomenal. It has been hands down my favorite liquid lippie.

I enjoyed the evening catching up with the blogger boo's and having some much needed cocktails. Don't worry because I will have a post dedicated to the event. So stay tuned lovers!!!

Show Off

After a stretch of rain, finally the sun is shining and the weather is higher than 40 degrees. I am definitely affected by the weather. Rain makes me want to stay inside and just watch old movies. It does not motivate me to anything but sit on the couch and binge watch something. When I woke up to some much needed sunshine, I knew it was time to wear this super cute skirt from Simply Be.

Simply Be's Spring collection is filled with tons of prints, on trend silhouettes and a campaign that is all about celebrating us called We Are Curves. I'm still loving pleated skirts, but this one is shorter which shows off all the legs. The gams have been in hibernation, but it's time to let them enjoy some sun. This is a cute skirt to add to your closet. First, it's only $41 which is a great deal. Most skirts I come across these days are around $69 (before any promotions or discounts), so $41 is not bad at all IMO. Second, I have been gravitating towards a lot of prints, and this blue based print is subtle enough that you can mix it with another pattern. I am still an amateur pattern mixer, so I try to stick to color palettes that I can play around with. At some point, I am just going to throw caution to wind and just go for it, but for now, baby steps.

The skirt gives off a playful flirty vibe that I thought would look great with this Ava & Viv Eyelet bomber jacket. Skirts & bombers just look so great together, and with the eyelet design it plays well with the design of the skirt. Target's plus size section has some hidden jewels, so definitely take some time out and check out all they have to offer. I am wearing a 2X in the jacket and it has enough room if you want to layer. I love anything eyelet, so in a bomber it was a must have for me.

Since I was wearing a lot of navy blue, I felt that cobalt pair of strappy sandals would be a fun pop of color while still staying within the blue family. These are some oldies but goodies from Vince Camuto, but I have linked some other cute styles that you can wear now. My clutch is my favorite from Zara and my top is another oldie but goodie from Eloquii.

Are you ready to show off this season? Are you excited for flirty dresses or is a skirt more up your speed? Sound off in the comments!!!
