Cozy

I can't believe it's December!!! The year is about to come to a close, and I am just in awe how fast the year went. I took a mini break to just relax, watch Netflix, and to do some shopping. The deals online the past two weeks have been insane! I found some great sweaters, cute skirts, and comfy boots that I just had to share.

RRR Curvy

This season has been about the power of a great sweater. The statement sweater is definitely an item that you can not ignore. All the different versions really have me spending all my coins. The sweaters have not only been fun, but they are warm and soft. This off the shoulder from Rachel Rachel Roy was all that I could want. It keeps me warm, it's soft to the touch, and with it being off the shoulder, it's different from my other black sweaters in my closet. It is slightly oversized so I went with a 1X and it fit like a dream. My favorite part of the sweater is the extra long sleeves. I've always been the type to use my sleeves as a way to keep my hands warm (and drive my mom nuts in the process).

Brocade skirts were definitely all over the runway this season. I always liked a good skirt, so when I saw this mini brocade skirt, I fell in love. Can't go wrong with an animal print. Especially when it's in a fun metallic. It has a paperbag waist (which makes it stretchy), which makes it easy to get in and out of. It's fun and flirty, but having pockets just ups the ante. For the past year I have been living in midi skirts, but I must say, I'm falling for mini skirts. Since brocade is a rather stiff material, when it comes to sizing I tend to size up (this is a size 18) just to ensure I have room.

When you are all about warm and cozy life, finding a pair of boots that keep my feet warm in these colder months is vital. I saw these boots online, and thought they were super cute. When I got a chance to try them on in the store, I bought them immediately. It's one things for them to be cute, but the fact that they are lined with shearling made them a must have. I have been looking for a new pair of boots since it was time to retire my sparkly Uggs, but I didn't find anything worth looking at until I saw these Urban Hiker boots from Coach. They are a bit pricey, but there are some F&F sales going on, so you can get these on sale.

This look is definitely cozy, and very versatile. I can wear this with flats for work, booties for a night out, or even a fun sneaker while hanging with my Day 1's. Just cause the temps are dropping doesn't mean you can't give em something fun. What piece from this look speaks to you? Let me know in the comments!

Dia & Co Fashion Show

I was super excited to get a chance to see Dia & Co's first fashion show at the Curvy Con. Co CEO of Dia & Co, Nadia Boujarwah shared that the company was to debut four new lines to their ever growing assortment. Earlier in the year, I was stoked to see pieces from the Rebel Wilson x Angels line, but the other's I was completely shocked and excited to see.

Girl With Curves

Blogger Tanesha Awasthi teams forces with Dia to create a fun collection of updated classics. I love the blazer with slight ruffle hem, and stripes.

Nanette Lepore

Nanette Lepore, the NY based brand know for prints and pretty dresses now has thrown their hat into plus size with her Nanette Nanette Lepore line. Expect lace, velvet, and pretty dresses.

East Adeline

Love Parisian style? Then this brand is the brand for you. I'm a big fan of chunky sweaters that show a bit of skin, so that is on my get list.

Molly & Isadora

A new denim line is here ladies, and her name Molly & Isadora. Look for distressed, classic skinnies in shades of blue and pops of color. I had a chance to try them at Curvy Con, and even though the rise was not as high as I would like, the denim was made of a good quality and the stretch hugged my curves.

Rebel Wilson x Angels

The wait is over, Rebel Wilson's line is now available! My favorite is the cobalt suede moto and the fun

Rachel Rachel Roy

No stranger to the blog, RRR Curvy is now at Dia & Co. The fall collection sports dark florals, asymmetrical tops and dresses. Since their debut a year ago, there is always something that I just have to add to cart.

Definitely head to Dia & Co to check out the new arrivals and get something from one of these lines in your next box. Muah!!

Dressed In All Black Like The Omen

As a NY gal, wearing all black is just a regular day for us. Black is a wonderful color, it's bold but can still play well with others. It's my security blanket color. Whenever I am in my "I have nothing to wear" moods, black is always there to save the day. I haven't worn all black in forever, and with it being Halloween weekend and one of my favorite 'scary' movies is the Omen, I figured all black would be fun. I'm not a costume girl, but playing around with my clothes and makeup is more my speed.

Sweaters are such a big part of wardrobe especially as the temps drop. I usually just stick to turtlenecks and pullovers, but I have been really stepping out of the box this season. In my quest of trying new things, this maxi sweater from Rachel Rachel Roy called my name. The Rachel Rachel Roy Curvy collection has a lot of great items for the plus size gal. Over the summer, I was all about the wide leg jumpsuit, and now it's this sweater. Sizing wise, I decided to go with a 2X so that it wasn't too tight across the hips. Even though it has this amazingly sexy split, I still want the sweater to skim across my body so that when I walk you get just the perfect hint of leg. The sweater is super soft ribbed knit. All I needed was a pair of great leggings from Forever 21+ and my over the knee boots and I was all set. How did you celebrate Halloween?

Independence Day

Besides the bbq's, fireworks, and the day off, the 4th of July is about our independence. Where a lot of posts will feature their best in red, white, and blue, or stars and stripes, I decided to go in a different direction. The 'appropriate' way to dress has always had a list of rules for plus size women. On the list of things that are not appropriate for us - shorts. I always wore bermuda shorts, to cover as much as thigh as possible. I always thought they were too big, not desirable at all. To the contrary of how I felt, were men who didn't have an issue with them. So then why let the negative thoughts in my head stress out about how much fabric was covering my legs. At the end of the day, it's all about wearing what makes you feel happy and comfortable. I'm not forcing you to wear shorts, but I do want women to just shed these 'rules'  and wear what you like.

For my independence day, I went with Harper + Liv's distressed shorts. The amount of stretch in these shorts are what sold me on them. The more stretch in my shorts, the better they are for me. When you are a part of Team Thick Thighs stretch makes shorts easier to move in. The inspiration for this post was this Rachel Rachel Roy Curvy top. We get soo bogged down with what not to do that we forget that we can do anything. I love this mesh bomber from A.N.A. , and it's only $20!!! Definitely check this item out. For accessories, I went with my Circus By Same Edelman Eye Can't crossbody. My favorite wedges from Nine West ended out my look.

How are you celebrating your freedom to do what you want? Giving a new trend a try, or maybe adding color? Sound off in the comments!! Happy 4th Lovers!!!!

Ride or Die

I have been a fan of Rachel Rachel Roy for years. The prints, and design were always a favorite of mine. Now there were some things I could wear depending on how it ran, but most of the dresses and jumpsuits that I liked were not for these curves. Then they launched Rachel Rachel Roy Curvy (angels singing). I was jumping for joy when the line was launched and it was going to be at my local Macy's. One of my favorite pieces from the lookbook was the chambray jumpsuit. This incorporates two of my favorites, denim and a jumpsuit, so the shopaholic in me had to have it.

Wide leg jumpsuits can be tricky. You want to ensure that the leg opening is wide enough but at the same time you want to make sure that the top fits well. The great thing about this jumpsuit is that the bodice is fitted with an elastic back so all you have to worry about is the fit on the bottom. Since this doesn't stretch I went with a 2X.

I am bag whore and this Rebecca Minkoff Sophie clutch is one of my favorites. The pop of color and fringe detail just brings everything together. I found these sunnies from Nordstrom for $24. These are called the Soho from a brand called A.J. Morgan. They have a lot of cute styles and are very affordable. The jumpsuit is a little on the long side so I wore my favorite wedges from Dolce Vita. Definitely give the RRR Curvy line a try. There are new items up every month, and their latest collection is currently sitting in my shopping cart. Enjoy!!
